Hawkwind kündigen Zehn-CD-Box „Days Of The Underground – The Studio & Live Recordings 1977-1979“ an
Hawkwind, die ikonischen britischen Meister des psychedelisch-progressiven Rocks, werden am 31. 3. 2023 eine Box mit Material veröffentlichen, das in der Zeit entstand, als die Band einen Vertrag mit dem Label Charisma hatte – also in der Ära der späten Siebziger mit Sänger Robert Calvert! Das umfangreiche Zehn-CD-Dokument wird „Days Of The Underground – The Studio & Live Recordings 1977-1979“ heißen.
Die Box enthält acht CDs und zwei Blu-rays mit frischen neuen Stereo- und 5.1-Mixen, die Steven Wilson für die Alben „Quark, Strangeness And Charm“ (1977), „Hawklords – 25 Years On“ (1978) und „PXR5“ (1979) angefertigt hat – dazu kommen Aufnahmen aus dem Jahr 1977 und dem Rockfield-Studio. Zu allen Alben gibt es Bonusmaterial.
Die Box enthält außerdem alle erhaltenen Live-Mitschnitte (in neuem Soundmix) von den Konzertauftritten der Band im September 1977. Dazu gehören Auftritte aus den Spielstätten: Farifield Hall, Croydon, den Hallen Ipswich Gaumont und Leicester De Montfort, die The Sonic Assassins-Show in der Queensway-Halle, weiterhin Barnstaple, sowie der Hawklords-Auftritt von 1978 an der Brunel University. Zu all diesen Live-Mitschnitten kommt eine Reihe unveröffentlichter Tracks.
Die Box „Days Of The Underground – The Studio & Live Recordings 1977-1979“ enthält außerdem einen bis dato unveröffentlichten Promo-Film vom Auftritt der Hawklords an der Uxbridge University 1978, ebenso eine Live-Performance des Albums „Quark, Strangeness And Charm“ aus Marc Bolans TV-Show „Marc“. Die Box wird noch durch ein umfangreiches illustriertes Buch, einen neuen Begleitessay und ein Poster ergänzt.
